Combating clutter is a challenge that most of us try and avoid. Yes, we know that we need to keep things in order, but with work, family obligations, and managing the household, organization seems to take a back seat. But without an organized home, things just don’t function very well. Those towels that don’t make it to the towel rack need to be washed more often. The TV remote winds up behind the entertainment center. Dishes never make their way from the dishwasher to the cabinet. Yes, we have all been there, but tackling everything at once can be overwhelming. Here are a few solutions that can help the clear the clutter and ease your mind:
1. Box it up: Sometimes a room just needs a little tidying up. Removing unwanted items and grouping them with like items will make them easier to find later. These textured office bins from West Elm are both beautiful and functional.
2. Defend the zone: Cooking is even more fun when you can find everything you need to prepare a meal. The folks at Real Simple suggest keeping frequently used items like pots and pans, utensils, and spices within arm’s reach. That way, you will be able to cook without having to stop between tastes.
3. Keep a laundry routine: Fluff and folding may not be a favorite past time, but keeping a regular laundry schedule can make doing laundry a less daunting task. It still won’t wash itself, but at least the laundry will be more manageable.
